February 11, 2010

Our Thursday trivia question this week is one from the NFL rulebook.

We’ll give you the scenario, you tell us what the correct referee’s call would be. Let’s take a look:

The offense’s line of scrimmage is its own 35-yard line. The quarterback takes the snap and drops back to the 31, where he passes to a receiver standing on the 33.

The receiver then passes the ball forward to another receiver, who makes the catch at the 48.

What’s the call?

If you know the answer, post it here, find us on Facebook or give us a Tweet.

While you think it over, here’s SportsCenter’s Top 10 trick plays. Play No. 6 is very close to the play we’re describing.

The trophy will be awarded at 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Nokia Theater in Times Square. It will be broadcast on ESPN.

Running backs Toby Gerhart and Mark Ingram are both solidly in the running, with Ingram believed to be a favorite. Coming off a dominant performance in the Big 12 title game, Nebraska defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh is also among the hopefuls.

They are joined by two quarterbacks, Texas’ Colt McCoy and Florida’s Tim Tebow.
