It’s the last step before the Super Bowl. The four remaining teams will get pared down to two this Sunday, and we’ll know who is heading to Miami in two weeks.
Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and the New Orleans Saints are on the cusp of history. Once one of the league’s sad sack teams, the Saints are red-hot, thanks to a dangerous passing attack and the NFL’s best offense.
While the Saints look to make history, the Minnesota Vikings are on their own path to destiny. Veteran signal-caller Brett Favre joined the squad at the end of fall camp in a move that several people questioned, but the 40-year-old proved his doubters wrong in a memorable season.
Favre, Adrian Peterson and the Vikings will square off with the Saints at 5:40 p.m. Central on Fox.
In the AFC, the New York Jets travel to face the Indianapolis Colts.
With rookie phenom Mark Sanchez at the helm and burly bruiser Shonn Green in the backfield, the Jets pulled out a gritty 17-14 upset over Phillip Rivers, LaDanian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers last week.
If they hope to pull out another big win, the Jets will have to contain the explosive Colts. Despite not seeing a whole lot of action in previous games, Peyton Manning has the Colts on the brink of their first Super Bowl appearance since 2007.
Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. on CBS.
