The fight against cancer touches us all.
The American Cancer Society estimates that 11.7 million Americans currently are living with or have had cancer. They’re our friends, our co-workers and our family members.
One of the most common — and deadly — forms of cancer among women is breast cancer. Every year, more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 40,000 are killed by the disease.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and over the past few years, NFL players have donned pink gloves, wristbands, towels and chinstraps throughout the month as part of the league’s “Crucial Catch” campaign.
The gear is auctioned off to benefit the ACS and other charities, and the campaign helps spread awareness of the importance of screenings and prevention.
With October almost here, you can help spread the word at home with some pink football gear of your own. On select items, a portion of the proceeds from your purchase will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
