Show your support for breast cancer awareness with Pink NFL gear

The fight against cancer touches us all.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 11.7 million Americans currently are living with or have had cancer. They’re our friends, our co-workers and our family members.

One of the most common — and deadly — forms of cancer among women is breast cancer. Every year, more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 40,000 are killed by the disease.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and over the past few years, NFL players have donned pink gloves, wristbands, towels and chinstraps throughout the month as part of the league’s “Crucial Catch” campaign.

The gear is auctioned off to benefit the ACS and other charities, and the campaign helps spread awareness of the importance of screenings and prevention.

With October almost here, you can help spread the word at home with some pink football gear of your own. On select items, a portion of the proceeds from your purchase will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Footwear Friday: Football cleats don’t get any lighter than Adidas’ Adizero 5-Star Football Cleats

September 16, 2011

Adidas’ Adizero 5-Star Low Molded Football Cleats tip the scales at 6.9 oz. per cleat. How light is that?

An Adizero cleat weighs about as much as:

  • A baseball.
  • A small cell phone.
  • An apple.
  • Or a T-Shirt.

Adizero 5-Star Football Cleats are the lightest football cleats in the game. With no extra weight to carry around, your acceleration will be off the charts.

The single-layer synthetic upper reduces shoe weight while providing support and durability. The new Traxion stud outsole provides maximum traction on all surfaces, so you’ll be able to make cuts like a sushi chef.

For your opponents’ safety, strap your biceps down while on the field

Football biceps bandsBiceps bands for proper gun control.

Just a friendly reminder from your friends at Football America:

Always remember to secure your biceps to your arm when you’re on the field.

After all, nobody wants to see a pair of dangerous pythons running loose out there. One set of bands (above) works great, but if you’re carrying around a pair of truly monstrous arm cannons like TCU’s Tank Carder, three bands is the minimum.

Nike Home and Away Maize/White Dri-FIT Arm BandsIf you need to get your guns under control, take a look at our wide selection of Nike arm bands.

They’re made with Nike’s Dri-FIT fabric, so they won’t get soggy or lose their stretch, and the flat-seam construction provides a comfortable fit without any itching or binding.

They have a nine-inch resting circumference and can stretch to 21 inches. If your arms are larger than 21 inches, we might suggest using a hula hoop or a bicycle tire as a band.

Anyway, Nike’s arm bands are available in seven different color styles, with home and away patterns. Each pack includes two pairs, with reversible colors.
